Long and bouncy locks require great care, but here are some secrets to growing long, bouncy hair…fast! Tricks for styling and keeping hair healthy-looking help us cut through the time consuming trips to the salon and give us the youthful looks we want in less time and spending less money!
The first must is to keep your hair well hydrated, just like the rest of your body. While drinking plenty of fluids is great for overall health, hair may require a hydrating mask to actually keep moisture loss at a minimum as we go through summer. Argan oil with added proteins is the latest “go-to” additive which can coat our hair shafts to hydrate and lock in moisture.
Body-building is not just for our bodies, but also for our hair! Voluminous locks are always in fashion and added bounce can be had by using Velcro or sponge rollers at your crown area once your hair is fully dry. Let those rollers set for a few minutes, remove and brush out gently. Another way to get this ultra feminine look is to start in the shower by using a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. Make sure to rinse out the conditioner thoroughly so there is no additional “weight” on your hair. Next, section your hair and apply a mousse from root to tip. Next, blow dry your hair in sections with a round brush, pulling away from the head in an upward motion. A shortcut is to blow dry your hair with your head upside down. Flip your hair over and blow dry, then flip it back, brush gently and spray softly with hairspray. There are also styling lotions to tame flyaways and hairsprays that add shine while holding your tresses in place. Voila, volume!
Longer hair requires special care, and some added tricks are needed. Again, make sure to use a hydrating mask but maybe weekly for longer tresses. Rinse out conditioners add moisture but may not be enough hydration to hold up to the styling and heat damage required by longer hair. Hydrating masks also help with color treated hair as that process often leaves hair dry and brittle. Without breakage hair not only looks healthier, it can also then grow longer! So, let that mask sit on your hair for a full three minutes before rinsing….(you can use this time in the shower to floss or use your waterpik…which will give you a healthier smile!).
Split ends also make longer hair look “ratty” or shorter than it is…or downright unhealthy. Split end sealers are new to the rescue. Closing off and sealing up those splits make your hair look longer and shinier all at once. Long hair seems to need brushing thoroughly more frequently as well, and the wrong brush can pull at the roots or break hair off mid shaft. Make sure to be gentle when hair is wet or dry. A comb with teeth far apart can be the first step to detangling right after the shower, then a natural bristly brush (not a plastic one) can be used to gently comb through hair working from the ends up to the scalp. Finer hairs around our face and hairline edge are more fragile and are more sensitive to dyes and heat, so be especially gentle there. There are strengthening hair treatments for cases where hair is excessively thin or fine as well.
Of course, if hair is thinning or we are balding, then the Nutreve Personal Hair Therapy Laser is the only solution to a fuller head of hair that will be strong enough to grow to any volume or length. Laser hair therapy for women is now an at-home treatment option. This treatment for thinning hair is a natural hair loss treatment that uses pulsing lasers to stimulate the blood flow to the follicles where hair is produced. Nourishing the roots is key to producing the thickest, shiniest hair possible…perfect for long and bouncy hair for summer or ANY time!
